Newton Abbot
Newton Abbot Community Interest Company (the CIC) was established in
2008 in the town of Newton Abbot in south Devon. Although originally set-up
to deliver the projects and priorities from the Newton Abbot & District
Community Plan, the CIC’s work has broadened over the years in response to
community needs and opportunities.
The CIC is involved in a wide range of projects and activities with our work is
centred around the management of two community centres – The Buckland Centre and The Courtenay Centre.
Newton Abbot CIC is a not-for-profit organisation. As such, we rely on grant funding for all our project work. Current activities are funded by a variety of sources including the National Lottery, Newton Abbot Town Council, Arts Council England and Teignbridge District Council.
Income generated from room rental at the community centres is reinvested in the overhead costs of running those centres.
The CIC has six directors who are all volunteers.
The current Directors are:
Lynn McElheron
John Pike
Carol Bunday
John Addy
Rosemary Roscoe
Linda Robson Burrell
The CIC has a small staff team. The team operates as a single team, although some members of the team are employed by Newton Abbot Centre Association.
